U.S. Travel–Trump Reportedly At The Point Of Revoking EU Travel Ban

The Trump administration banned travelers from the EU to enter the U.S. eight months ago in March at the height of the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Now, President Trump is considering lifting the ban from 26 European countries, the U.K. and Brazil (where a ban was put in place in May).
Trump officials have argued that travelers from most other countries around the world are not banned and that the move would considerably help the airline industry, where international travel has fallen by up to 70%.
Reuters reported that a group representing American Airlines, United Airlines Holdings, Delta Air Lines and other air travel companies called Airlines for America has been advocating the lifting of travel bans and to begin national testing for Covid-19 instead–two trials are already up and running between the U.S and the U.K.
Asked by Reuters about the idea of travel restrictions being lifted, a U.S. Transportation Department spokesman said “the department stands ready to support the safe resumption of international flights to and from the U.S.”
According to US News, the White House, Department of Homeland Security and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) declined to comment.
